Orvis and Merle Dahl of Westhope celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 9 with a family dinner at Michael's restaurant in Minot.

Merle Foss and Orvis Dahl were married Oct. 9, 1949, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Landa. In 1952 they left for California, where he worked for Douglas Aircraft as a planner and she worked at different schools as a teachers' aide. They moved back to Westhope in 1974. He then worked for the City of Westhope and she worked at the Westhope Home for the Aged and after that as a cook at the school.

They have four children: Lon, of Henderson, Colo.; Diane McKechnie and Janis Houmann, both Westhope; and Ron, Grand Junction, Colo. They have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
