Her English is very good, cutting through an unmistakable accent revealing her first language – Spanish.
The transplanted native of sunny Puerto Rico is as much at home in the field during the opening day of the deer season as she is in the classroom. Both dates are noted on her calendar. It wasn’t always that way.
“When I left Puerto Rico, it was 83 degrees. When I got to Minot it was 14 degrees, and that was shocking!” said Gladys Arnott, Spanish instructor at Minot’s Central Campus High School. “When I put my head out of the airplane and looked down those stairs, I just went oh, my God! Smoke was coming out of my mout.
