Bishop Ryan High School took first place in the N.D. Cheer Coach Association’s Class B 2009 Fall State Cheerleading Competition, held Nov. 14 at Fargo South High School. Cheer teams from across the state competed with original routines that had a time limit of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Area teams performed quite well in the competition. North Prairie High School took second, followed by Velva High School at third, Rugby and Grafton tied for fourth place and the team from Bottineau placing fifth. Bishop Ryan took first place in the Class B stunt group competition. Stunt group competition consists of five girls who can perform a one-minute routine of stunts and tumbling set to music. Individual recognition Kayla Leintz of Bishop Ryan took the Class B Jump-Off title. Jump-off consists of three rounds. First round is a toe-touch, followed by any advanced jump, closing with a repeat of the previous jumps. Leintz beat out three other girls in the final round to take the title.
