Parking Authority has a difficult job on its hands
Downtown Minot has a parking problem. How best to solve the problem, well, that’s another discussion altogether. The issue is in the limelight again this week because of the potential sale of the “Big M” building in downtown Minot. A California developer who already owns real estate in Minot wants to buy the Minot Building, the former Midwest Federal Building, with plans to renovate the building and lease space. But the developer is rightly concerned about parking, and has asked about the possibility of purchasing the parking lot directly across the street to the south of the “Big M” building. That’s where the issue gets tricky. Spaces in the parking lot are currently leased. Of the 141 available spaces, 112 are already leased.
